“Everything I need I can find within...”
It was the centering mantra a sweet young friend gave us to use as needed during a Sound Bath experience recently. To return ourselves to the present moment.
It gets so noisy. All of it. Don’t you think?
Contrary to the suffocating sounds that we are all subject to these days—certain sounds offer a very healing, centering experience. A return to our senses and (if we allow) a release for the ever-uptight nervous system.
This experience was an eye-opener for me. Although I’ve long believed in the healing power of sound frequencies and have used it various times in emergency situations—mom’s aneurysm, my dad’s ICU experience and although I enjoy a consistent meditative breath practice to calm my own often sympathetic (fight/flight) state this full hour on my back, on a mat, eyes shut behind a mask, only responsible for the quality of my breath and herding my “prone to wander” mind back to the moment was—different. In that it affected me very deeply. The varied frequencies of multiple gongs, tinny and cascading bells, and water each evoked diverse physical reactions…something I may well not have allowed myself to experience at a different time in my life.
I learned that the white swirls I saw, the full body “tingles”, the exquisite deeply blue and red “clouds” were not unusual in a theta state. A deeply meditative state. I believe my daily breathing meditation opened the door to this very relaxing experience. I am grateful. And curious. Definitely encouraged.
Do we truly experience our experiences? Might seem like a silly question. Worth a ponder.
Again, “everything we need, we can find within”. Think about it. Because…as someone quite wise once said, “We do not have a soul. We are a Soul. We have a body.”
Let’s begin at the beginning…breath. First and last thing we do. It’s the gatekeeper and the dot that connects us to the next dot. The next dot is our Center. At both the physical or spiritual level, it is what grounds us. Stabilizes us. Allows us to stand strong and flexible in spite of the swirl around us.
So start. Commit to experiencing your breath.
Anywhere and everywhere.
Notice how it can energize.
How it can calm.
Brings you back to this fleeting moment.
Without it—well, you know. We’ve all been there.
With it—we get to be Here. Fully.
It’s one thing we can control.
Our bodies are perfectly knit homes for our Souls.
“Everything we need we can find within.”
This may seem like a lot but again I invite you to ponder.
Being mindful of what we allow in…
…does it serve or detract from the person we are Becoming?
What we listen to…
Read.
Watch.
Eat.
Who we spend our moments with…
Where we spend our time…
How we move our bodies…
Add your own and stay with me as we continue “connecting the dots”.
Because you can’t un-know what you know.
This world needs what only YOU can bring it. The you that you were designed to be.
Body.
Mind.
Spirit.
Calm the noise so you can hear what you already know.
Let’s connect these dots…you’ve got this, just decide.
